Serving the citizens of Gaaf Dhaal Vaadhoo
Institute for Development Actions (IDA) is a non-governmental organisation founded on the principle of serving the citizens of Gaaf Dhaal Vaadhoo. IDA acts as a development partner for the local community, the Council, and individual initiatives through inclusive and sustainable practices and strategic actions.
The core idea is to address social, economic, and environmental challenges through evidence-based strategic interventions, capacity development, and innovative solutions.
The initiatives at IDA are structured to strengthen the island community, reduce socioeconomic disparities, and improve outcomes in key areas, including the economy, education, healthcare, and sustainable development.
IDA works in partnership with the community, public institutions, civil society, development partners, and other stakeholders to design and implement context-responsive initiatives that deliver meaningful and lasting impact.
Through data-driven approaches, and multi-stakeholder collaboration, we seek to strengthen resilience, expand opportunities, and enhance the capacity of individuals and the community to achieve sustainable and inclusive development.

How IDA is run
IDA is governed by a board accountable to its members and the community it serves. Day-to-day work is led by an executive team, supported by volunteers and advisors.
